Last night at Space Connect, we hosted another edition of Construction & Home Services Networking & Learn, bringing together entrepreneurs, contractors, and industry professionals for a conversation that many business owners urgently need to have.
We are especially grateful for the continued collaboration with the City of West Palm Beach, and for the participation of Frank Hayden, Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity, and Jon Marchant, License & Permit Supervisor. Their presence reinforces the importance of strengthening the relationship between local government and the small businesses that drive our local economy.
A very special thank you to Justin Howard, President of Black Diamond, and the team who joined him at Space Connect. Justin’s openness and practical approach to the topic brought tremendous value to our community of entrepreneurs.
His presentation explored a challenge many business owners face: the transition from being the hardest-working employee in the company to becoming a true CEO. He shared powerful insights about building a clear company vision, putting the right people in the right roles, and learning to delegate outcomes—not just tasks in order to empower teams and create real accountability.
Justin also addressed a common trap for growing companies: when leaders become the bottleneck of their own business. Sustainable growth, he explained, happens when leaders build systems, develop people, and allow teams to operate with trust and clarity rather than constant supervision.
Beyond the learning session, the networking portion of the evening was equally valuable, giving attendees the opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and strengthen relationships within the construction and home services community.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to make Space Connect a place where business owners learn, connect, and grow together.
If you’re a business owner looking to surround yourself with a community that values collaboration, learning, and meaningful connections, we invite you to become a member of Space Connect and be part of the conversations shaping our local business community.
