Space Connect hosted a sold-out Construction & Home Services Networking & Learn event, bringing together a full house of professionals committed to strengthening their businesses and growing within the local economy. The evening welcomed representatives from more than 25 small businesses across the construction, finance, technology, and marketing sectors, many of them proud members of the Space Connect community.
The event, “Avoiding Non-Paying Clients: Legal Strategies for Contractors,” addressed one of the most common challenges faced by contractors and home services professionals: protecting their work and ensuring they get paid.
Practical insight from an experienced legal professional
The session was led by Jeff Harrington, Business and Real Estate Attorney and founder of Harrington Legal Alliance, a firm with over 17 years of experience. Jeff delivered clear, practical insights based on real-world cases, encouraging open dialogue and shared experiences from attendees.
Rather than focusing on legal theory, the discussion centered on common payment issues in both residential and commercial projects, the high cost of litigation, and the importance of being proactive instead of reactive when it comes to legal protection.
A key takeaway from the night was simple but powerful:
Many payment problems can be avoided with the right structure and legal preparation from the start.
Meaningful networking and real connections
As always, the event also created space for intentional, high-quality networking. Attendees connected with peers, exchanged ideas, and strengthened relationships that extend beyond a single event. At Space Connect, we believe strong businesses are built through strong connections, and this night reflected exactly that.
What’s next: preparing local businesses to compete
This event is part of Space Connect’s ongoing mission to educate, connect, and empower local businesses so they can grow and compete at a higher level.

The Hidden Math of Construction Bids: Estimating Without Regrets
In collaboration with and sponsored by the City of West Palm Beach, this upcoming Networking & Learn will focus on helping construction businesses better understand their numbers, submit stronger bids, and position themselves to compete for city projects.
Because at Space Connect, we believe local dollars must stay in the local community, and that starts by preparing local businesses to win local opportunities.
